How to make pudding from scratch
- Measure dry ingredients (flour, sugar, salt, and cocoa for the chocolate pudding) into a medium-sized saucepan and whisk together.
- Add milk, vanilla, and egg yolks to a large pourable bowl or measuring cup and whisk until smooth and frothy.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Whisk together until there are no clumps and the sugar is starting to dissolve.
- Place the pan over medium-high heat and whisk continually until the mixture comes to a low boil and becomes thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon.
- Remove the pudding from the heat and stir in the butter. Continue to stir until the butter is melted and completely incorporated.
- To avoid skin forming on the top of your pudding, cover it with plastic wrap, making sure the plastic wrap covers the surface of the pudding.
If you know you me, you know that more than anything I am passionate about getting families around the table together and making sure that kids are cared for, by having healthy food available to them. I would love for you to help me raise money, this holiday season, for the Great American Milk Drive.
I did not know an interesting fact until recently: Of the thousands of pounds of food available in food banks, only 5.3% is dairy, and 95% of food banks say they don’t receive enough milk to meet their client’s needs. Without milk, families miss out on high-quality protein and milk 9 essential nutrients kids need to grow healthy bodies!
