Equipment

  • 1 double boiler
  • 1 fondue pot

Ingredients

  • 11 ounce package Wrapped Caramels
  • 1/4 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1/4 cup brewed Coffee strong
  • 4 ounces Bittersweet Chocolate chopped
  • 1/2 cup Heath English Toffee Bits
  • Dippers - pound cake, pretzels, strawberries, cream puffs, graham crackers, biscotti, marshmallows, bananas, potato chips

Instructions

  • Remove wrappers from caramels. Place caramels, coffee, and heavy cream in double boiler. (If you don't have a double boiler, use a glass bowl inside a saucepan filled with 2 inches of water over medium low heat.) Stir caramels as they melt. This will take about 30 minutes. When caramels are completely melted and smooth, remove from heat, add in the bittersweet chocolate pieces, and stir until they melt and incorporate into the caramel.
  • Pour toffee fondue into your fondue pot. Light a tea light under your fondue pot to keep chocolate warm. Or if you are using an electric fondue pot, turn it to a low temperature.
  • Prepare all of the food that you want to dip into your chocolate fondue. I have listed all of our favorite dippers in the ingredient list. (There are even more suggestions in the body of the blog post!)
  • See notes for how to prepare ahead of time.

Notes

preparing ahead: complete first two instructions, let cool, and store in an airtight microwavable container for up to 2 days before you are ready to use.  When you are ready serve chocolate toffee fondue slowly warm in microwave and pour into your fondue pot, sprinkle with toffee bits, and serve with dippers.
