Rice Pilaf

This easy homemade rice pilaf combines toasted orzo and fluffy long grain white rice simmered in rich chicken broth for a simple, flavorful side dish that pairs perfectly with chicken, beef, pork, or holiday meals. It’s buttery, comforting, and made with pantry staples in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups long grain white rice I prefer jasmine rice
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter in a medium sauce pan, add orzo to the pan saute until the pasta starts to brown.  
  • Add in the rice and stir to combine. Allow rice 2 minutes to start to toast in the pan.
  • Add chicken broth, salt, and pepper to taste.
  •  Bring rice to a boil, reduce heat to low cover and let simmer for 18 minutes.  Remove from heat and let set for 5 minutes.  Remove cover and fluff with a fork.  Serve with just about anything!
