3. If you find yourself inserting the word pie into poems, songs, and your daily vocabulary.  ”Pie how are ya” “Lucy in the Pie with diamonds..” “Oh how I love pie let me count the ways…” Or you think people have said something about pie when they really have not. “I love the color of your pies…” (eyes).  ”Aren’t the Boston Cream Pies on fire this year?!” (Boston Celtics)

4. You call your mouth a “pie hole”.

5. And FINALLY…just saying the word pie makes you swoon, MMMmmm AaahhhH, and smile dizzily like a GEEK.  If you answered yes to this question…well I’m sorry, BUT you are a PIE GEEK!

My favorite pie for Thanksgiving is Pumpkin Struesel. It doesn’t even need whipped cream! I don’t remember where I found the recipe, but I make it almost every year. Yummy!

Loving the pie week! So many yummy ones to try. I love, love, love pie, just about any kind of pie except coconut cream (I only like coconut in small, no, itty-bitty doses, hiding under lots of chocolate chips). I have lots of favorites … I guess whatever pie I’m eating at the moment is my fave LOL! Since it’s hard to pick a favorite, I guess I’ll just tell you about our most recent find. My daughter was looking through some really old cookbooks that my stepmom was going to get rid of … you know the kind, the church ladies cookbook where everyone puts their bestest recipes? She found a simple lemon pie and jotted it down and we put fresh lemons on the grocery list that week. Oh, boy, was it good! She’s made it several times since then. Now, we’ve been using store-bought frozen crust, which isn’t too bad, but I’m hoping to show her how to make from-scratch pie crust over the Christmas holiday, using my Great Grandma Orva’s best crust recipe. I bet it’ll make the lemon pie over the top delish! And who knows, maybe we’ll make a few crusts and try some of the recipes you’ve shared. They sound heavenly!

My favorite pie is Lemon Meringue which I do not make because making meringue scares me. I do make other pies though and that pie plate looks beautiful.

I am not a pie geek – it pains me to say this, and it may sound trendy, but I am a cupcake geek. Swear I was making cupcakes before they became the “it” bakery item. My favorite pie is Lemon Meriange (I cannot even spell it), this is the first pie I ever made, as a kid maybe 10, and I absoutely love the tartness and the fluffy merainge (yes I could look this up, but don’t feel like it)

My favorite is a French Apple Pie from my girlfriend, Lori!!! It is mouth wateringly good…. I know that’s not a word, “mouth wateringly”, but it works for this pie. And I definitely qualify as a Pie Geek!!! I Love Pie!

My favorite pie is a cranberry pie that I only make at Thanksgiving (you know, that’s the season for cranberries, right? Cranberry sauce with turkey and potatoes….yum, yum) anyway, my kids really love it too.
But this year I called my Mom and told her, don’t make any pies I’m going to bring three of them. Of course one will be my cranberry pie, but the other two are going to be from your blog. The pumpkin pie with the syrup in it, and Dutch apple pie (My hubbies favorite).
I actually have a great apple pie filling recipe that I can every year so I will probably just use that for the filling because it’s just so easy to make a crust (of course your Grandma’s crust recipe, I tried it and love it) open the jar and dump in the pie filling. But then I will use your recipe for the top crumbly part.
Now that I think about it, I might have to make a Mountain Berry pie too. That is one of MY favorite. Three berries mixed together, it’s so…… good.
Ohh…Boy, it sounds like I might be busy next week Wednesday.
WooHoo… What fun. I have never made so many pies untill I started reading your blog about a year ago. Thanks Sheila for sharing your passion with me.
May You and Your Family have a Blessed Thanksgiving!!

Thank you so much for offering such a generous giveaway! I live for my cousin’s Chocolate and Butterscotch pies. They’re simple yet so unbelievably good. I beg her to make them for every holiday, birthday and any other day ending in y. They really are that good.

I am cannot select a favorite….the thought of it sends me into a cold sweat. I love banana cream and coconut cream pie….it’s making my mouth water just thinking about it! I love my friend Tina’s apple pie…..to die for! My grandmother’s pecan and pumpkin pie….yes, I’ll have two slices of each…4 total! Rhubarb pie….sometimes I think I’m the only one….a good scoop of ice cream is all is takes to perfect the tartness. I could go on and on, but Shelia brought over a new version of pecan pie….chocolate in the middle…and there’s one piece left that I must go and eat so that I can add this to my list of favorites too!!

You are right about the girlie in the picture w/ you, she makes herself a mean pie. I’ve been on the receiving end of her yummy pies a time or two……Sheil, I look forward to trying some of your yummy pie recipes you shared this month…..Call me boring, but my favorite pie is pumpkin pie. And I’ll be using my grandmother’s recipe card written in her handwriting when I make it this week.

OH, I do LOVE me some pie. I make a delicious Dutch Apple Pie, if I do say so myself! I also REALLY LOVE pecan pie. I typically have that only 1 or 2 times a year though, so there is just something a little extra special about it.

Sheila~ Thanks for the opportunity to win that gooood-lookin’ pie plate! I have just one pie plate that is very generic that came with a set of other dishes; nothing special in the least. I appreciate the chance to win something so purdy!!

    Have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving!!!

hey sheil! remember me (used to be nietering), i LOVE your blog. very inspiring ideas and simple, honest, comforting food! i prefer cooking over baking, but your pie crust seems foolproof and i might just try it.

i love sugar cream pie. this is a very delicious, simple, custardy pie and the “hoosier state pie” here in indiana where i live now. i have found a lot of people have never heard of it, but once they taste it, they love it too :) i don’t like any a la modes or whipped cream or slivered nuts near my pieces of pie- just straight up pie, plain and delicious.

Oh girl, I am right there with you- pie geek all the way! My favorite pie is my grandmother’s chocolate pie. The perfect meringue on top- it is heavenly. Love the pie plate!
